These strawberry hedgehog cacti flowers were found on Jem trail. It was May of last year that I found them and I was so incredibly excited for all the blooms that were going on in the area. I wanted to capture the vivid fuchsia color of the flowers and their delicate texture against the spines of the cacti. Jem trail currently has snow on it and in a few months we will see the blooms again. The harshness of the high desert never slows as the summers will reach the 90s.
