New Beginnings
36x24”
Oil on linen
My latest piece titled “New Beginnings”. These agave may look familiar to other agave I’ve painted… and that’s because it is the same ones that I revisited 6 months later. After desert agaves bloom they begin to die and this was the stage I wanted to capture. It’s dry and crinkled and the colors really drew me in. The once cool toned agave has turned into this warm glowy looking plant. Almost blending into the sandy Anza Borrego scene. There’s new blooms that are sprouting from its roots. I specifically found this in Coyote canyon which is a very special place to me. I love to see the desert’s slow transformations of plant life and scenery there.
This work was shown at Borrego Art Institute in the Earth & Sky exhibition.
It’s in a gold leaf frame, seen in last photo
Ships safely through UPS. I include it in the price of piece.
