This work encompasses the ringed bloom of a fish-hook cactus (Mammillaria dioica
Cactaceae). I spotted these on a hill overlooking Santa Catarina Spings earlier this year. When I found these, I felt like I hit the jackpot, I never have seen these cacti in such abundance. They were growing straight out of rocks and in the most random crevices. I ended up coming to this spot twice and wanted to time to perfectly when they were blooming. It was a long adventure of off roading and hiking to find these and I’m happy I was able to revisit them. I wanted to capture this somewhat rare occurrence of a full bloom. This specific species is endemic to California.
